As part of our response to the Covid-19 outbreak and following mandated AHS guidelines and procedures, Noralta Health is using screening tools at the time of booking to ensure that new clients have not been outside of Canada in the past 2 weeks, that they are not experiencing any cold or flu-like symptoms in the past 2 weeks and that they have not been in contact with anyone who is known to have Covid019. In addition, our staff and physicians follow safety protocol and the use of personal protective equipment during all in-person examinations. Our facilities are monitored and cleaned daily to ensure that the examination space is free of any potential virus.
We also provide our clients with the convenience of both online and in-person examinations, where possible. When arranging an in-person examination the client will be asked prior to scheduling over the phone or email if they:
  • Have been outside of Canada in the past 2 weeks
  • That they are not experiencing any cold or flu-like symptoms in the past 2 weeks
  • And that they have not been in contact with anyone who is known to have Covid-19
If they passed the initial screen, we go ahead and schedule the client for their examination. Leading up to their assessment date, the clients should expect a phone call from the Noralta Health office to confirm if they:
  • Have been outside of Canada in the past 2 weeks
  • That they are not experiencing any cold or flu-like symptoms in the past 2 weeks
  • And that they have not been in contact with anyone who is known to have Covid-19
Once they have passed the 2nd screen we continue with the assessment as scheduled, if they fail to answer the above three questions we cancel the assessment and wait for the client to see their treating family physician and gain clearance before they can be examined.
Finally, it is exam day, and us once again for the 3rd time before the assessment commences will have our front desk reception, intake worker and the examining physician ask the following:
  • Have been outside of Canada in the past 2 weeks
  • That they are not experiencing any cold or flu-like symptoms in the past 2 weeks
  • And that they have not been in contact with anyone who is known to have Covid-19
If the client cannot proceed with the assessment the examination is canceled and asked to see their treating family physician for clearance prior to being rescheduled.
If there are no further concerns, we proceed with the medical examination as scheduled.
